The project
Genie 2 is a research world model that generates action-controllable environments from a single prompt image. DeepMind demonstrates diverse scenes that a person or agent can explore using keyboard actions.
Where AI comes in
The model learns a distribution of simulated worlds and predicts how the scene changes as actions are taken. The research discusses scene consistency, perspective changes, and emerging interactions.
For game makers
A reference for environment prototyping and training agents in varied worlds. This is a research demonstration; the original announcement does not provide a general-purpose public game editor.
